2024 Toyota Crown Crossover Landscape
Toyota has expanded the lineup of the Crown Crossover in Japan with the introduction of the Landscape special edition as part of its 2024 model year updates. Positioned as the pinnacle of adventure and luxury within the hybrid crossover range, this edition boasts numerous off-road enhancements, making it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts.
Drawing inspiration from last year’s Crown Outdoor Concept, the Crown Landscape incorporates elements adjusted for production while offering owners the opportunity to emulate the concept’s aesthetic with optional accessories.
Recognizing that most buyers won’t subject the Crown to extreme off-road conditions, Toyota has opted for a more restrained wheel setup. Nevertheless, the custom 18-inch rims fitted with 245/60R18 all-terrain tires provide ample traction for challenging terrain.
Additionally, the special edition sits 25 mm (1 inch) higher than the standard Crown Crossover, courtesy of the raised suspension. This increased ground clearance not only aids in obstacle avoidance but also offers a higher driving position and improved visibility, as highlighted by Toyota.
In addition to the updated wheels and raised profile, the Crown Landscape showcases wider bolt-on fender extensions finished in “Gori Gori Black” paint, echoing the aesthetic of the concept. The exterior color scheme combines Urban Khaki with Black, mirroring that of the concept model.
The production variant also benefits from red mud flaps, a towing hitch, and larger fog lights at the rear. An optional roof rack is available, although the roof basket featured in press photos is an aftermarket addition. The only element missing to fully replicate the concept’s look is the extra LED bars on the hood and roof.
Interior enhancements are subtle, with gold “Landscape” lettering on the dashboard and 60:40 split folding rear seats to accommodate longer items like surfboards.
Under the hood, the electrified powertrain of the Crown Crossover RS remains unchanged, serving as the foundation for the Landscape special edition. The 2.4-liter gasoline engine, combined with dual electric motors, delivers a total output of 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS). Power is distributed to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox and Toyota’s electronic “E-Four Advanced” system.
Exclusively available in Japan for a limited time, production of the Toyota Crown Crossover RS Landscape is slated to conclude in December 2024. Priced at ¥6,850,000 ($45,262), with an additional ¥44,990 ($297) for the roof rack, this edition stands as the most premium offering in the Crown Crossover lineup. While it commands a significant premium over the entry-level X model, it is only ¥150,000 ($990) more expensive than the fully equipped RS variant, which received a notable price increase for 2024 due to additional features.
