Toyota Gazoo Racing is the motorsport division of the Toyota Motor Corporation, dedicated to motorsport activities ranging from rallying and endurance racing to circuit racing. It was established in 2015 as a rebranding and expansion of Toyota’s previous motorsport activities. History and Heritage:
In 1957, Toyota participated in its first motorsport event, the inaugural Mobilgas Trial, laying the foundation for its motorsport ambitions.
Toyota’s motorsport efforts gained momentum in the 1970s and 1980s with successes in rallying, including victories in the Safari Rally and the World Rally Championship (WRC).
Toyota’s endurance racing efforts began in the 1980s, and the company participated in the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
In 1993, Toyota achieved its first major endurance racing victory by winning the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Toyota entered Formula One in 2002 and participated until 2009. After an 11-year hiatus, they returned to Formula One in 2020.
In 2015, Toyota Gazoo Racing was established as the unified brand for Toyota’s motorsport activities, representing the company’s commitment to motorsport and performance-oriented vehicles.

Achievements:
Toyota Gazoo Racing has achieved remarkable success in endurance racing, particularly at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They secured their first victory in the prestigious race in 2018, followed by consecutive wins in 2019 and 2020.
Toyota has also achieved numerous victories in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), including multiple manufacturer and driver championships.
In the World Rally Championship, Toyota Gazoo Racing has made a strong comeback since its return in 2017, securing the manufacturer’s championship in 2018 and 2020.
Toyota Gazoo Racing has also been successful in other motorsport disciplines, including the Dakar Rally, where they clinched their first victory in 2019.
The team has also been involved in developing performance road cars, with models like the Toyota GR Supra, GR Yaris and Toyota Corolla GR directly resulting from their motorsport expertise.
