The 2024 Lexus LBX Morizo RR Concept is making its global debut today at the Tokyo Auto Salon, presenting a fresh interpretation of Lexus’ recently unveiled Lexus LBX compact crossover. This iteration transforms the vehicle into a high-performance model, strongly emphasizing driver engagement and gratification. Simultaneously, the concept meticulously upholds the indispensable attributes of a premium driving experience and sophisticated design that define the brand.
Injecting an additional layer of uniqueness into the LBX’s unconventional identity, the concept model results from direct collaboration with Akio Toyoda, the Chairman and Master Driver of Toyota Motor Corporation, affectionately known as “Morizo.” Chairman Toyoda shares his insights into the project through a concise video, accessible on Lexus Europe Newsroom, offering a glimpse into the collaborative process that shaped this remarkable concept.
The LBX Morizo RR Concept is propelled by a turbocharged and intercooled in-line three-cylinder engine, unleashing a formidable 305 DIN hp/224 kW. Power is efficiently transmitted to all four wheels through an electronically controlled system and a Direct Shift eight-speed automatic transmission. Every critical aspect of the vehicle, from packaging to body, suspension, and tires, has been meticulously refined for optimal performance. The development team applied cutting-edge aerodynamic technologies derived from the world of high-speed air racing to enhance the car’s efficiency.
Aligning with the overarching theme of Lexus and Toyota Gazoo Racing’s showcase at the exhibition, the concept boasts customizations with distinctive details. Morizo’s signature yellow hue is prominently featured in the plated molding of the unified spindle grille, brake calipers, and seatbelts, all adorned with the Morizo RR logo. Additional enhancements include sports seats, alloy pedals, and colored wheel arch and rocker moldings. The outcome is a vehicle that encapsulates a sense of laid-back luxury while exuding the reassuring and rewarding qualities of a trusted driving companion.
