Mazda North American Operations unveiled the virtual world premiere of the inaugural Mazda CX-50 today. Marking a significant milestone, the 2022 Mazda CX-50 stands as the first Mazda vehicle to roll off the assembly lines at the new Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) facility in Huntsville, Alabama. Production is set to commence in January 2022. Mazda is keeping true to their manufacturing secrets and if the sales figures are anything to go by, then they’ve found a winning formula. Equipped with standard i-Activ All-Wheel Drive (AWD) technology and the innovative Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive), the crossover SUV introduces new drive modes accessible through the Mi-Drive switch. These modes enhance adaptability, whether navigating challenging off-road landscapes or providing reliable towing capabilities.
Upon launch, the CX-50 will offer Mazda’s efficient powertrains, featuring the Skyactiv-G 2.5 naturally aspirated engine or the Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine, paired with a responsive six-speed automatic transmission. Future plans include the introduction of electrified powertrains, including a traditional hybrid model, expanding the CX-50’s eco-friendly options.
