2026 Lexus IS 350 sharpens its edge with tech and a trimmed lineup
The 2026 Lexus IS enters the market with a focused update to the brand’s compact rear-drive sports sedan, narrowing the U.S. lineup to a single powertrain and two trims: IS 350 F SPORT Design and IS 350 F SPORT. Updates center on a sleeker appearance, larger displays, and the latest package of driver-assistance technologies. Sales are slated to begin in early 2026, with pricing and full specifications to be announced closer to launch.

Design that looks lower, wider, and more planted
Lexus has refreshed the IS with a nose that highlights its low cowl and wide stance, giving the sedan a more planted and purposeful look. The F SPORT model gains a reshaped rear spoiler designed for smoother airflow, along with optional red brake calipers that emphasize its performance character. Both the F SPORT Design and F SPORT ride on newly styled 19-inch lightweight aluminum wheels.

The color lineup now features seven choices: Ultra White, Iridium, Cloudburst Gray, Caviar, Infrared, Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0, and a new light gray finish called Wind, distinguished by metallic undertones. It’s an evolution rather than a revolution—and that measured approach feels right for the IS.
Cabin tech steps up, old bits step out
Inside, the 2026 IS swaps out dated hardware for a cleaner, more modern cabin experience. A standard 12.3-inch Lexus Interface touchscreen now manages infotainment, paired with a matching 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster for the driver. Gone are the clunky touchpad, in-dash CD player, and analog clock—changes that give the dashboard and console a more streamlined look.

Material choices have also been elevated. A new “Forged Bamboo” trim, crafted from real bamboo fiber, adds a layered, shadowed effect around the start button and center console. F SPORT buyers can opt for a bold Radiant Red interior theme that pops against the darker cabin finishes.

Sound comes from a 10-speaker Lexus Premium Audio setup as standard, while an available 17-speaker Mark Levinson system caters to audiophiles. For connectivity, two high-output USB-C ports are fitted up front, with two more for rear passengers. A redesigned Gen5 Qi wireless charging pad sits ahead of the shifter, shaped to accommodate today’s larger smartphones.

Powertrain and chassis: familiar hardware, finer tuning
Every 2026 Lexus IS 350 sticks with a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6, producing 311 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel-drive models pair the engine with an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic, while all-wheel-drive versions carry on with a six-speed automatic. Lexus hasn’t yet published official 0–60 mph times, top speed, or EPA fuel economy figures.

Chassis updates focus on steering precision and overall response. The electric power steering now integrates a variable gear ratio to reduce steering effort in tight corners and intersections, while suspension revisions aim for smoother transitions between braking, cornering, and throttle inputs. These are subtle refinements, but they pay off on winding roads. Even so, the AWD model’s dated six-speed gearbox and the lack of a turbocharged or hybrid option make the IS feel slightly behind competitors embracing electrification and more advanced transmissions.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 now standard
Every 2026 IS comes equipped with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. Using a combination of camera and millimeter-wave radar, the suite provides forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking and now recognizes pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. It also introduces Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, which can add steering torque to help stabilise the vehicle during evasive manoeuvres at certain speeds, along with a Left Turn Oncoming Vehicle Detection/Braking function that intervenes in select daytime intersection scenarios.

On the highway, Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control handles stop-and-go traffic, while Lane Tracing Assist helps keep the car centered when cruise is engaged. Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist provides both warnings and gentle corrections if it senses unintentional drifting. Additional features include Road Sign Assist, which displays detected signs in the cluster; Proactive Driving Assist, which applies light steering or braking to maintain smooth spacing or guide the car through curves; and Automatic High Beams, included as standard.
Grades and equipment highlights
For 2026, the U.S. Lexus IS range is streamlined to a single model: the IS 350, offered in F SPORT Design or F SPORT trims. Both versions come standard with the redesigned 19-inch lightweight wheels, dual 12.3-inch displays, and the expanded suite of active-safety features, with the option of rear- or all-wheel drive. Stepping up to the F SPORT adds an available aerodynamic rear spoiler, optional red brake calipers, and the exclusive Radiant Red interior theme.

Availability and pricing
The 2026 Lexus IS 350 is slated to arrive in U.S. showrooms in early 2026. Final pricing, detailed equipment lists, and EPA ratings will be confirmed closer to its launch date.

Why this IS still matters
More than 25 years on and with around 1.3 million units sold, the IS remains true to its roots as a classic compact sport sedan—front-engine, rear-drive proportions, a naturally aspirated V6, and a chassis tuned for balance over theatrics. This latest refresh doesn’t aim for headlines, but it refines the experience with a cleaner cabin, updated tech, and stronger driver-assist features. For those who still value a small luxury sedan that feels fundamentally mechanical, the 2026 Lexus IS 350 continues to deliver—now with a touch more polish and modernity.
