The 2017 Subaru Impreza introduces the Subaru Global Platform architecture, showcasing enhanced driving pleasure, agility, crash protection, and ride comfort. This innovative platform will serve as the foundation for upcoming Subaru vehicles, including hybrids. Continuing its tradition, every Impreza comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, providing a significant advantage in driving agility and traction compared to front-wheel drive competitors.

The more spacious 2017 Impreza models also reveal the brand’s fresh design language and advanced driver-assist technology. Additionally, the latest multimedia features, such as standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, along with standard Near Field Communication connectivity, make their debut on the Impreza. Upon its arrival in Subaru dealerships in late 2016, the new Impreza will be offered in base, Premium, Sport, and Limited trim lines.

DRAMATIC NEW LOOK ON A NEW STRUCTURE THAT’S FUTURE-READY
Subaru’s fresh design approach brings the brand’s distinctive hexagonal grille and hawk-eye headlights to a more sculpted body, accentuating its athletic stance with prominent wheel arches and flowing lines. This striking exterior seamlessly extends into the cabin, adopting an outward-flow design that follows the car’s front. The 2017 Impreza boasts a 105.1-in. wheelbase, a 1.0-in. increase over its predecessor. Both the Sedan and 5-Door models are 1.6-in. longer and 1.5 in. wider, creating a more spacious cabin. Despite a 0.4-in. reduction in height, the new design maintains excellent all-around visibility.

The Subaru Global Platform, in conjunction with the Boxer engine, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD), and EyeSight® technology, forms the fundamental framework for the next generation of Subaru vehicles. The platform integrates new frameworks with optimized cross sections and robust joints between structures, boosting straight-line stability, agility, and ride comfort while minimizing noise, vibration, and harshness. Notably, the new platform enhances the unitized body structure’s rigidity by over 70 percent.

A lower center of gravity and revamped suspension systems mark a significant advancement in Subaru’s performance evolution. The double-wishbone independent rear suspension, with its rear stabilizer bar directly mounted to the body, reduces body roll by 50 percent compared to the previous model. The inherent handling agility of the Subaru Global Platform enhances hazard-avoidance capability. Furthermore, the steadfast straight-line stability not only enhances the driving experience of the 2017 Impreza but also lays the groundwork for autonomous driving capabilities in future Subaru vehicles.

NEW IMPREZA SPORT WITH ACTIVE TORQUE VECTORING
Capitalizing on the enhanced rigidity of the new platform and the increased power of the engine, the Impreza 2.0i Sport, now offered in both Sedan and 5-Door models, delivers an even more exhilarating driving experience. This is achieved through exclusive suspension tuning, 18-inch machine-finish alloy wheels, and the inclusion of Active Torque Vectoring. Subaru’s goal was to establish a new benchmark for ride and handling balance in the compact segment. The Sport variant also introduces a new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System, an option available on other models.

Setting the Impreza Sport apart are distinctive exterior styling and features, such as standard LED daytime running lights (DRL), a black-finish front grille, body-color rocker panels, and turn signal side mirrors. The Impreza Sport 5-Door model boasts gloss black rear gate trim, while the Sport Sedan features a rear trunk spoiler. Inside the Sport, the unique black cloth upholstery is adorned with red stitching, a theme that extends to the steering wheel, gear shift, instrument panel, and door trim. The instrument panel showcases exclusive Sport gauges and a Multi-Function Display.

Equipped with a range of enhancements beyond the Impreza Premium, the Sport includes the Subaru STARLINK™ 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, with an available upgrade to a new harman/kardon® premium audio system. Keyless Access & Push-Button Start, aluminum pedals, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift handle, and a CVT shift boot contribute to the Sport’s elevated standard equipment.

NEW DIRECT INJECTION FOR HIGHER PERFORMANCE AND EFFICIENCY
The updated FB 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine undergoes a revision, incorporating direct fuel injection and various enhancements to elevate both performance and drivability. The power output now stands at 152 horsepower, a notable increase from the previous 148 horsepower. In higher-end trims, the Lineartronic® CVT (continuously variable transmission) is equipped with a 7-speed manual mode function, complemented by steering wheel paddle shifters. This configuration empowers the driver to take command of the transmission through seven pre-set ratios, enhancing the overall driving experience.

ANOTHER LEAP IN VEHICLE SAFETY
Subaru prioritized safety in the design of the 2017 Impreza, aiming to surpass the already highly rated outgoing model, which earned recognition as an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ with available EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. The advanced platform supporting the 2017 Impreza enhances crash energy absorption by an impressive 40 percent compared to its predecessors.

The EyeSight® system, a key component in the safety features, incorporates Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, along with a Lane Keep Assist function. Optional safety additions include Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Excitingly, new technologies like Steering Responsive Headlights, capable of illuminating curves as the vehicle steers into them, and High Beam Assist, automatically adjusting high beam headlamps based on driving conditions, are now available. Standard safety equipment across all 2017 Impreza models includes front seat side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, and a driver’s knee airbag.

The 2017 Impreza introduces additional driver-assist technologies, such as Reverse Automatic Braking and the display of steering lines for the standard rear vision camera. Reverse Automatic Braking takes action by applying the vehicle’s brakes if an obstacle is detected during the reversing process. Furthermore, a new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System enhances safety by detecting pressure drops at individual wheels.

FOUR TRIM LINES
The 2017 Subaru Impreza offers a diverse lineup with four distinctive trim lines: 2.0i base, Premium, Sport, and Limited. The 2.0i base model kicks off with an impressive array of standard features, including a 6.5-inch multimedia touchscreen, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ compatibility, power windows with auto up/down on both driver and passenger sides, a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, power door locks and side mirrors, a multi-function display with fuel economy information, tilt and telescoping steering column, security system with engine immobilizer, carpeted floormats, and more.

Moving up to the Premium trim introduces Subaru STARLINK™ Safety and Security features, 16-inch alloy wheels, the All-Weather Package with heated front seats, windshield, and exterior mirrors, as well as automatic headlights. The Premium 5-door Impreza models come with standard roof rails (not available on the base 5-door Impreza 2.0i Sport). Opting for the Premium trim also opens up a wider range of options, including a power moonroof and driver assist technology systems.

The Limited trim takes the 2017 Impreza into a more luxurious realm, featuring LED headlights, distinctive “Konoji” LED daytime running lights (DRL), and standard 17-inch machine-finished alloy wheels. Steering Responsive Headlights, capable of illuminating curves as the vehicle steers, enhance both safety and elegance. The Limited’s leather-trimmed interior showcases double stitching on the door armrests and instrument panel, along with a groundbreaking 6-way power driver’s seat—the first ever in an Impreza. Standard amenities include an automatic climate control system, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, Keyless Access & Push-Button Start, and an 8-inch color display. The exclusive instrument panel features white gauge cluster illumination, and a new harman/kardon® premium audio system is available for the first time in the Impreza. Models equipped with EyeSight technology also incorporate High Beam Assist, automatically adjusting high beam headlamps based on driving conditions. Finally, the available navigation system now features maps provided by TomTom.

SUBARU STARLINK™ MEANS MULTIMEDIA AND CONNECTIVITY

The display screen serves as the interface for the standard rear vision camera, with the top-level system incorporating navigation functionality.
